Ärganud ühel hommikul 1875. aasta juunikuu alguses, lugesid San Fransisco elanikud ajalehest Chronicle koledat lugu -- keegi naine oli endale pähe tulistanud, sest ta mees oli "ta oma alles sündimata lapse hävitamisest keeldumise pärast kodust minema kihutanud -- järjekordne lugu südametusest ja hingeahastusest". Naine oli Flora Wellman, must lammas pioneer Wellmani perekonnast Massillonis Ohio osariigis; mees oli professor W. H. Chaney, iiri rändastroloog; alles sündimata laps sai aga miljonitele inimestele kogu maailmas tuntuks kui Jack London. See on lugu Jack Londonist, jutustatud tema enda sõnadega, ainult talle omase jäljendamatu koloriidi, iseloomu ja dramatismiga. Seal, kus Jack räägib enesest, ei suudaks ükski biograaf ütelda paremini. "Meremees sadulas" rajaneb Londoni viiekümne avaldatud raamatu ja kahesaja tuhande kirja, mustandkäsikirjade, dokumentide ja päevikute materjalil. See on jutustus sellest, kuidas ta töötas, armastas ja võitles.

The author of the book is writer, data scientist, and musician, Stephanie Rendón, who came to Estonia in 2014 for doctoral studies and work. Particularly, Setomaa captivated her so much that she decided to stay and wrote a book about her journey.

The book consists of two parts. The first part details the inner journey of the author, which began when she moved from Mexico to Estonia. The second, a smaller segment, is devoted to the information and personal impressions about the culture, history, and nature of Setomaa.
